Nascar Racing Bus Renovation

Who doesn’t love a challenge? With over 18 years of experience in Interior Design, Camara had one for the books. When her client, who sponsors a NASCAR racing team came to Wake Forest Interior Designer Camara with this special project, she couldn’t walk away.

When you own a race car team, you end up travel throughout the country so comfort is a must. The Rifenburg’s bought an old 1980’s Prevost bus which they wanted to be transformed into a modern-day motor home. Everything was customized for durability and elegance. Camara always say’s “a beautiful home still needs to be functional.” And for this project, it had to be.

We start by gutting it completely clean. Since the Refenburg’s travel all over the country, we made sure that the bus boasted heated floors throughout. You need to keep those feet warm for the northern trips. Then we added a beautiful limestone and marble bathroom and a custom quartz counter for the kitchen. We also included a custom-made bar built around our client’s favorite spirits. Special no slide cubbies were made for each bottle and glass so that they wouldn’t slide back and forth during travel.

As for the Rifenburg’s comfort, the highest quality items were chosen. We tried to repurpose some items by taking the old captain’s chairs by reupholstering with soft but durable leather. Camara also had a custom headboard created. Both the Captain’s chair and headboard styled the custom logo of the race team which was hand-stitched by a local Raleigh company.

In the dining area, we added high-end surround sound and a state-of-the-art mirror tv. At the completion of the project, we were able to present our client with a finished product that was customized with the highest quality materials and extreme attention to detail and design functionality the client wanted.

Another thing we kept in mind was the dirty racers. We chose sunbrella fabric for upholstery and durable window shades for day and night which operated by a single remote.
